Boating Season 2019

Spring is officially here!

We have had a few days that prove there is still a sun in the sky, and it’s a great time to make your plans for the upcoming boating season. If you know that repairs are needed, schedule early as wait time will increase with improving temperatures. Our preparations are already in high gear with the start of bottom painting. If we can help you get ready for the 2019 boating season in any way, just give us a call.

Our first 2019 Veranda pontoons have just arrived!

Veranda pontoons come standard with aluminum inter-locking floor panels, color combo GPS/Depth finders, AM/FM stereo, and Yamaha four-stroke fuel-injected engines. Whether you are considering a replacement for your present pontoon or just starting out, take advantage of our Early Bird specials.

Xpress Jon boats are coming soon!

17- to 20-foot, they are all welded with flat floors and foam-filled. This year, we have an all new Xpress 23-foot center console with 175 HP Yamaha four-stroke engine, complete with tandem axle trailer. Pricing also includes color combo GPS/Depth finder, AM/FM stereo, trolling motor, and more! This is a self-bailing model and is very popular in the Gulf of Mexico where deep water is in short supply – similar to our area. Ease of cleanup after a day of fishing is a big plus for this boat.

Things are happening so fast around here that our web inventory does not always reflect our actual inventory, so give us a call if you haven’t found what you’re looking for.

Customer Appreciation Days

Winter boat shows provide a fantastic opportunity for getting out and seeing what’s new in the boating industry. They can help you get answers to some of your questions before spending thousands of dollars.

You won’t find us at the boat show and for this reason we are able to reduce pricing on our products – not just for a weekend – but the whole month of February we offer reduced-pricing on boats, engines and parts.

Veranda pontoon boats offer an ALL ALUMINUM DECK CONSTRUCTION and are powered by Yamaha four-stroke engines. Complete pontoon and engine packages start at less than $28,400, and include mooring cover, GPS, depth finder, AM/FM stereo, and more.

We provide service after the sale and there’s no sales tax on non-titled items. Consider talking to Lingo Marine prior to making your next marine product purchase.

Get Ready For Boating 2018

The calendar says it’s Winter, but it won’t be long before Spring…and the warm weather can’t get here soon enough! We know once it does, getting on the water will be every boater’s #1 goal. Take the time now to make sure your boat is ready.

Some items that should be checked are:

  • Condition of life jackets
  • Fire extinguisher charged and handy
  • Flares in a dry, accessible place
  • Condition of lines
  • Complete battery check
  • Engine service items
    • Oil change
    • Filters
    • Water pump
    • Fuel lines
  • Bottom paint
  • Trailer tires
  • Trailer lights
  • Boat license
  • Trailer tags

And if you need us to help with any of these items, remember…the turnaround time usually gets longer as the temperature goes up.

Advance scheduling is also important if you have a boat in storage. It’s always wise to give as much notice as possible, and a minimum of 2-weeks will become mandatory as May approaches.

We were gratified to see the response our Customer Appreciation Days received last year. So much so that we plan to repeat this special event in February!

Lingo Marine now has an online Accessories Catalog and we’re certain this can help you with those sometimes difficult-to-find items. Let Dave in our Parts Department know when you select an item and he’ll get it for you quickly.

We have updated the new and used boats listing. Don’t see your choice there? New boats can be ordered and generally received within a week, depending upon model and features.

As usual, used boats and pontoons change so quickly, we can’t even get ‘em on the list.

Same thing goes for used engines. In either case, just call and tell us what you’re looking for.

Having a good time with your family? See something that could help others avoid a problem? Care to share something that might bring a smile? Share it right here. Just go to the bottom left of the Home Page and upload a favorite picture of your boating activities. Or, pop over to our Facebook page and share with everyone. Either way, we’d love to hear from you.

Have a happy and safe summer!

Boating Safety Keeps The Fun In Boating

A

safe-boating

While the season actually begins in early spring, here in Delaware, the pace really picks up with the coming of the 4th of July. And from that holiday until Labor Day, our waterways are busy with the traffic of enthusiastic pleasure boaters.

We all enjoy getting out on the water and experiencing the freedom that comes with being away from our everyday cares. But unfortunately, it seems that the first few weeks of summer usher in somber reminders that boating safety has slipped from our minds.

Thankfully we don’t see too many serious boating accidents here and many, if not all, of these incidents could have been avoided. Alcohol, lack of proper equipment, and just plain poor planning have figured into the findings for recent mishaps.

That’s puzzling for me because most of the boaters that I encounter in our store and on our waterways are responsible, caring individuals. We can all make mistakes, I know, and it only takes one to spoil a beautiful day.

So, let’s think for a moment about some things we should be doing for our own boating safety that will in the long-run contribute to everyone’s boating fun. Here’s a quick 10-point list that can be of benefit to even the most seasoned of us “weekend skippers”:

1. Be Weather-Wise
2. Follow a Pre-Departure Checklist
3. Use Common Sense
4. Designate An Assistant Skipper
5. Develop A Float Plan
6. Make Proper Use of Lifejackets
7. Avoid Alcohol
8. Learn to Swim
9. Take a Boating Course
10. Consider a Free Vessel Safety Check

If there is anything that we at Lingo Marine can do to help you complete your boating safety checklist, you only have to ask.

Let’s all come back after Summer 2018 with plenty of good stories and pleasant memories. And, don’t forget the pictures! We would love to share your boating fun with all our readers.

Make this a happy and safe summer on the water!

The Outboard Motor and Lingo Marine

A

evinrude-motor“The history of the outboard motor is as simple as its operation, and a testament to ingenuity. It was invented in 1907 by Ole Evinrude, a pattern maker by trade. Ole finished his first motor in 1907, and even to this day outboard motors are basically the same. Using Ole’s idea of a vertical crankshaft, horizontal flywheels, and set of bevel gears, today’s Evinrude motors will propel a boat a bit faster than the ’07 version – 150 mph versus 5 mph!

Since its invention, the outboard motor has come quite a way in terms of technology, efficiency and performance. Throughout the years, other engineers have expanded on Evinrude’s ideas and made the outboard motor one of the most remarkable inventions of the century. Ole Evinrude is a great example of the entrepreneurial spirit and the innovation that mark much of boating culture.”

When I read this recently, I knew this important part of boating history was worth sharing. It also brought something to mind that holds special significance for me.

I thought how much in common there is among people with a vision and a desire to make things happen. Mr. Evinrude and my father shared those qualities. Dad and Mom started Lingo Marine 55-years ago and grew the business, and a family that would one day carry it on.

Throughout the years, their ideas have been expanded upon, as the business has experienced growth and change. And today, we turn a new page – well, a website page – as we continue to challenge ourselves and fulfill the vision passed down to us.

Check out the “new LingoMarine.com”. Like any remodeling project, there may be some wet paint over here or some missing trim over there, but we think you’ll like what we’ve done so far.

Tell me what you think.
